Alfalfa Premium Honey (substitute for Black Locust)

Due to Extraordinarily wet weather in Maryland this Year, Black Locust honey has had extremely limited production. While Black Locust trees are able to grow in many soils, the plants are shade-intolerant and they are among many plants that are Intolerant to excessive moisture. Heavy rains cause additional problems by knocking the flower blooms off the Black Locust and Tulip Poplar trees. This hinders honeybees attempts to gather nectar and pollen. Until Black Locust trees bloom next Spring, we suggest trying ALFALFA Honey as a suitable alternative for Black Locust. The flavor profiles are somewhat similar and both are ideal for use to sweeten coffee and tea, as well as for use in many bread recipes.
